As good a ploy as any, I suppose, to try to dupe the Venezuelan people to continue supporting the governance disaster that Chavez started. Whip up patriotic fervour by threatening (or outright invading) your neighbour. Works for Putin.
So this is the regime that the US is counting on to be reasonable in trading sanctions relief for free / fair elections?
