RE:The sounds encouragingThis is not new at all
They delivered 2 a decade ago. and have 2 more they are a year late on BUT thte carriers are going nowhere for a few years anyways.
This is one of the few uses for the plasma and you need nuclear reactor with "free power" to justify the costs and the need to stay at sea
They tried in a cruise ship 15 or so years ago and went nowhere. Only the military can afford and cruise ships return to port weekly and can offload the trash.
You wont see any new carriers for 30 or 40 years if at all as rhey are the last dinosaurs

PAWDS eliminates more than 400 pounds of diverse trash material per hour, including the plastic that traditional ship waste systems could not destroy. PAWDS reduces all the ship's trash -- plastic, paper, food and wood -- to vapour, a key aspect, as without a waste destruction system of this calibre, the ship would be forced to reduce operations, returning to port to off-load trash.
