development of graphene-wrapped silicon anodes

Dr. Pope added: “Silicon is poised to replace graphite as the dominant anode material in current Li-ion and future, next-generation batteries. However, silicon expands by over 300% when the battery is charged and discharged, which has limited commercialization efforts. Our lab, through ongoing efforts supported by Zentek and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, has developed an improved method to enable high capacity, high cycle-life anodes by encapsulating them in a protective, crumpled graphene shell using a simple spray drying approach often used to generate much of the world’s dry powders. We look forward to our continued collaboration with Zentek which we hope will soon lead to a dominant, commercial anode technology.”

Zentek, along with grants from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), has been funding the research and development of this novel graphene-wrapped silicon anode.

This is all lovely but HPQ hasn't developed usable silicone yet and even then their system is more expensive then mass production currently available everywhere it's a non starter. They're selling a  more expensive product that makes silicone at lower purity and higher cost. They're selling vaporware .... Rolling trucks down hills and throwing people out of helicopters. 20 ...more

wierd dont know why this posted twice and to clarify Si or silicon pronounced sil- i- con, number 14 on the table of elemets, considered a metal and has 4 electrons in the Valence shell.    Silicone...the sht you seal your bathtub with...get with the program and speak about it in the correct context or you sound like an idiot.   Cheers

ya know i can forgive Bernard for pronouncing it incorrectly due to the accent but for you to post the nonsense that your posting and spelling it incorrectly is completely another thing...it just shows your depth of knowledge which obviousley is not very good.
