Barrier supplies Pyrotite to LP Building Products:
More specifically, International Barrier supplies to Louisiana-Pacific their new, self professed SECRET WEAPON:
This description of International Barrier's Pyrotite product is straight out of LP's product brochure:
"The unique Pyrotite® ignition-resistant coating on LP FlameBlock Sheathing is our secret weapon against fire. Covering an LP® OSB panel, the Pyrotite coating is a layer of non-combustible magnesium oxide material that contains crystallized water. Two quarts of water per 4´ x 8´ panel are locked into the product coating in this inert form and become moisture only when exposed to the intense heat created by fire. When released, this moisture helps LP FlameBlock Sheathing resist burn-through and slow the spread of fire."
In case you haven't made the connection regarding the association of International Barrier's Pyrotite product to LP's FlameBlock Fire-Rated Sheathing - Here is the link:

Immediately to the right of this location is a product brochure in down loadable PDF.
There is no other company or product that is in this space that LP is looking at - that is known at the time of this writing - then again, after surviving more than two and a half decades which involved lawsuits, copyright infringement and millions of dollars in R & D - above everything else - the product has emerged to be in a league of its own. To quote LP straight out of the product brochure:
"Pyrotite coating technology has more than 15 years of proven performance...It's a testament to our belief in the properties engineered into every sheet of this innovative, high quality material."
Furthermore, the Pyrotite product that is supplied to LP to form LP FlameBlock Fire-Rated OSB Sheathing, features "a proprietary, non-combustible, fiberglass-reinforced Pyrotite coating" and if that isn't an endorsement, maybe the following statement - taken straight out of the product brochure is:
"The fiberglass-reinforced Pyrotite coating actually increases the strength of the panel."
If you are here to conduct your own due diligence on International Barrier - no one expects you to take my word nor LP's for that matter - but here is an independent product test from earlier this year:

Pretty impressive stuff that video - here's some other things you need to know - Barrier's Pyrotite bonded onto LP's OSB becomes the LP Product "FlameBlock Fire-Rated OSB Sheathing. The chemical properties of Pyrotite make it both Inert and Inorganic - to quote the LP product brochure:
"Pyrotite slows the spread of fire with a layer of magnesium oxide cement that contains water within its crystalline structure." With burn-through resistance that encompasses both: Class A Flame Spread Rating (ASTM E84) and 20 minute thermal barrier (ASTM E119) - there's one question you need to ask yourself:
If the product has somehow survived as long as it has and the original management group is relatively intact two and a half decades later - isn't it about time - with all that is happening with global warming, wildfires and escalating insurance rates for residences and commercial properties, that someone woke up and legislated a world
class product that not only saves property, but more importantly, saves lives.
