I had a chuckle reading the first part of your post. This deal looks mighty good!
At the beginning I just took a quick glance at M2 post and thought that he was just doing some simple math, since I have an idea how much 1 Moz of Au would be worth above the ground, and just a fraction of that in-situ, since they (suitors) would need to factor in the cost to bring it up. M2 post shows,
"1m oz X $1,709.00 CDN = $ 1,709.00 Billion $$$$$"

But I looked again and there seems to be some confusion between the M and the B in that complicated formula. A much simpler formula could be something like
1M ozAu x $1.7k Cdn/ozAu = $1.7B Cdn
As discussed above, for evaluation purposes, the valuation of the deposit of a 1M oz in this case, would be a small percentage of $1.7B Cdn. At 10%, as an example, a buyer may pay $170M Cdn for that 1M deposit. At 5% it would be half price, depending on the gold market.
