RE:ICG; Meeting Date :July 04, 2017There is something strange about this note on SEDAR, etc. (dated 25 May 2017).
Type of meeting: Special, meaning that this is for the voting on ELD offer (and not the AGM which will be held earlier, so that the same slate of BoD would be expected to be voted in for presiding over the Special Meeting, unless there is no challenge at the AGM?).
This is fine, but the record date/voting date of 30 May is not a reasonable one, since it would require 3 business day to transfer share owneship. Today is Friday 26 May, so it may be too late to buy the shares with the voting rights attached to them. The notice to SEDAR was only sent out on 25 May, so would be too late regardless, unless the wave the 3 business day requirement. In the US, the situation is worse because on Memorial Day (29 May) is a holiday (and Friday could be a short day for financial activities).
Can someone shed some light on this?
