USB 2.0 is not meant to replace Ethernet
USB 2.0 will not replace 100 BT Lans or upcoming Hyperlans (1 Gbit)
, and yes a Lan that only allows 256 (2^8) devices will never make its
way into corporations.m You'd be suprised how even an office of 50 people can
quckly use up 256 device addresses.
USB : Could be used for home networking, something Microsoft is pushing.
also of course High speed communication between devices (ie USB based PDAs) etc so perhaps ICM's devices could be used to allow devices to hotsync or SyncMl to a central computer at a kiosk or in a store where people can load their PALM V's with electronic coupons etc (from a server in the back of the store). Loading MP3's into devices from a central, industrial MP3 Kiosk
etc...
Just some ideas.
