why Google API is being terminated- Playing The Ga

I believe that Google is on an Infrastructure reduction program- cutting costs- streamlining resources
The translation service API user base is costing them big $ in support, processing and resources IMHO
As you see from announcement many other APIs are being similarly cut back or off.
This is a similar move to Facebook changing its hosted XFBML feature 45 days ago.
The bottom line for me is that INT is not affected by this announcement -in fact it may bring others to INT as they will release an Ortsbo REST API shortly I believe- but I don`t think it will be free- smart under typical SAAS business models. We will see.
