old eCar batteries

old eCar batteriesToday I watched a good news item about the use of old eCar batteries.  Appartently when they lose about 20% of their power they are no good for cars but they are still excellent for home electrical back up systems and for other power systems needing battery back up.

As a result not nearly as many used eCar batteries wil get recycled at the time they are taken our of eCars becasue they will be repurposed for many more years for these other uses.  Home solar and electric power back up systems are a couple of the uses but threre are lots more.

This means that
in future there will be much less recycled cobalt and lithium coming back into the market from battery recycling than had been expected because the used eCar batteries will still be in service for many more years on other uses.

This is good news all around I would say.
