Reality: Presently trucks older than 17 years must use at least 2011 engines to be 'registered' in california. Only vehicles with California issued license plates will be denied registration, So if you have a deisel truck in CA that is 17+ years old, you must replace the engine (with 1M+ miles on it anyway), or swap it with an one out-of-state truck.
Additionally, all reporting indicates this problem is the result of the post pandemic demand surge, not the result of the 2000 California trucks denied regsistration until they swap out of state.
