New Mine Manager Named at Sandon, BC
Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, October 29, 2008 /FSC/ - Klondike Silver Corp. (TSX - VX: KS, OTCBB_Pink_Sheets: KLSVF), is pleased to announce it has appointed Mr. Stephen L. Phillips as mine manager for its operations at Sandon, BC. Mr. Phillips brings with him an extensive and diverse mining experience and expertise by way of his involvement in the industry for the past 42 years as mine manager, chief geologist, geologist and consultant.
He began his career in Newfoundland, moving westward through Quebec and Ontario, and in 1968 settled in British Columbia with Cominco Ltd. on Vancouver Island where he obtained his grounding in mining operations. Continuing with Cominco, in 1973 Mr. Phillips transferred to the Sullivan Mine (8000 TPD) at Kimberley, BC as production geologist and subsequently to the Sandon area in 1977 where he became the chief geologist for Kam-Kotia and then Silvana Mines. Mr. Phillips joined Dickenson Mines Ltd in 1987 as Superintendent and Mine Manager, Silvana Division, at Sandon, BC. He remained Mine Manager upon the purchase of the division by Treminco Resources Ltd. until the mine closed in 1992 due to low metal prices.
In the intervening years Mr. Phillips has worked for a number of companies as consultant, senior development geologist, chief geologist and mine manager. These companies include Kinross Gold Corporation, Bethlehem Resources (1996) Corp, Goldcorp Inc., Treminco Resources Ltd., Merit Mining Corp, Orphan Boy Resources, and Pacific Vangold Mines Ltd.
The Company is particularly excited about the extent of knowledge, experience and expertise Mr. Phillips brings in relation to the Silvana, Wonderful, Hinckley and other Company mines in the area, as well as the entire mill complex. Mr. Phillips joins a highly diverse and experienced team with regional exploration headed by Dr. Trygve Hoy and a mining and rehabilitation crew led by Mr. Leonard Palmer.
Klondike Silver looks with anticipation to Mr. Phillips building onto its production capabilities and enhancing mining opportunities at Sandon. The Company views this appointment as a significant step in its plan to become a major producer in the Silvery Slocan.
