RE:RE:Supply ‘lag’ helps lithium triple its prices in a year
@EpsteinResearch $CYP -- I've said that forces outside of CYP will take center stage, things like M&A, strategic investments, off-take agreements (away from CYP) over the next several months. We've already seen some of this. LG Energy Solution signing binding MOUs with tiny Avalon Advanced and U.S. based & listed Snow Lake. PFS-stage Rock Tech signing a binding deal with Mercedes-Benz. Australian-listed Greenwing Lithium signing a deal with EV maker Nio Inc., Global Lithium Resources signing a deal with battery giant SK On, ioneer partnering with Ford, EcoPro & a Toyota/Panasonic JV... I think if CYP wanted to they could get an off-take deal like these. But, I think they're not even looking for off-take until after the BFS is filed on sedar. Why sign off-takes that could box out other players when the off-takes being done these days offer no upfront funding to help with construction cap-ex? Since CYP has > C$30M, it can further de-risk its project through pilot plant optimization work, deliver a BFS, secure a partner (hopefully ALB) and then sign some off-takes. Or, perhaps ALB will end up with the off-takes...

@EpsteinResearch Even more specifically to other companies blazing a path forward for CYP to follow, don't forget ioneer & LAC. LAC is a powerhouse with a C$5B valuation (pre-production). They have half a billion in cash. Like CYP, LAC is wide open with no strategic partner (in Nevada, on Thacker Pass) and no off-takes signed. I think LAC will make a big splash by teaming up with a great partner and/or signing major off-takes -- both possibly within 3-6 months. And, LAC will probably be approved for a low-cost gov't loan in that timeframe as well.

@EpsteinResearch ioneer (IONR) was falling out of the picture for a year or two until Sibayne Stillwater agreed to acquire a 50% stake for US$490M. That deal was announced a year ago when Li prices were a lot lower. Since then, ioneer has signed deals with Ford, EcoPro & Toyota/Panasonic. IONR could be just 2 years from initial production.
