Yeah that story they relate to in the article is from 2009.  Also, the taxpayer in question was "A certified financial analyst and the Co-Head of a Canadian investment firm"... my thoughts is it was more of a test of the law in place, but he was definitely a professional trader.. and he lied about the details so he got grilled.

I'm fairly certain that you and I googling and stockhousing with our tfsa dollars are safe, even it goes to a million...
