RE:RE:Jack Lifton MDLFunny. I'd seen a similar claim by Lifton elsewhere a few months back - about how no one can do what EF is doing because of licensing for handling/trans of radioactive materials. It was concerning to me enough that I asked Mark Saxon about it. Here was his respone: "Handling and transport of monazite is an expense but not a major challenge. It is transported every day around the globe already as a Class 7 substance which puts limits on handing/routing/size etc... Nothing insurmountable, but the routing is important away from population centres. The waste management is a more important issue. We will produce uranium, thorium and radium in small amounts. Depending on the jurisdiction, the U and Th will be sold or stored for future use. The radium will always be waste. For our MOU with ACDC, the proposed Australian site at Kimba (South Australia) was definitely part of our thinking. The Murray Basin where the mineral sand will come from covers part of Victoria - NSW - SA. South Australia already has a uranium mining industry so legislation for handling and movement is already in place and is the obvious place to work. South Australia has a relatively small economy so are pro-business, there is heavy industry and chemicals at Port Pirie and Whyalla, and there is a lot of vacant land. Furthermore, ACDCs current MD Andrew Shearer used to be in the SA Geological Survey and was the liaison with the SA Government, so has excellent political connections. Energy Fuels have over stretched with their comment, but there aren't many locations that can store/use the U and Th. The problem for Energy Fuels is that they have an old and inefficient process circuit, they are remote, and there is very little mineral sand monazite in the US. If their production is to be relevant they need to import (through California?). They also need to add the value add separation step if they are going to approach profitability (currently done in Estonia)." So, essentially the exact opposite of Jack's claims. He is clearly a pumper for EF and (IMO) doth protesteth too much when it comes to MDL being on a legitimate path to becoming an RE from monazite producer.
