RE:Email to MGMcueballtwo -
Actually, I got hold of Fred Speidel right after the Bent Crook hit piece hit and implored him to respond. And he did. You can read his response right here:

Initially, MGM was not going to respond until I explained the ramifications, all negative, of telling investors and the gold community alike that Bent Crook's mischaracterization of Maple's deposit, specifically the portion in question, was speculative and sensationalistic on Crook's part and placed the company in a bad light, even a dishonest one. But he, BC, is known for this sort of malarkey. It brings him the dirty bucks.
I do feel, as I have expressed in the past, Crook's comments hurt the price because even though he has not been a field geo for at least a decade, he works the crowd at dog-and-pony shows like the VRIC which basically has become a collection of hucksters hawking moose pasture egged on by snake oil salesmen whipping the dupes into a frenzy and all they need to hear is rubbish from a supossed "authority" in the field.
I believe the MGM rebuttal was very important and while I agree with ardbegoil that sometimes the best way to deal with the Crooks of the world is to ignore them, I believe in this case that would not have been appropriate. Maple's reply was appropriately detailed and honest and I would refer to its logic in the immortal words of Edmund Burke, "all that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing."
Good fortune to all. Maple remains grossly undervalued and if BC did anything, he prolonged the window for accumulation of an excellent and gold-rich company at insanely low prices.
Well, they will not stay that way a lot longer.
