RE:RE:MIR vs CompetitionThese are 2 different kind of tests - (PS: I like SONA a lot)
1) Infection vs Immunity -
Sona antigen test measures virus itseld (very similar to RT-PCR based tests) while MIR test measures any neutralizing ab a person has developed which might shed some light in terms of gaining possible immunity.
So, Sona is about if a person has a virus or not
& Mir is about if the person has immunity or not
2) Window of detection -
Sona test has reletavily low window of catching virus in the upper respiratory tract as by week 2/3 the virus is mainly harbouring lower part of the lungs which is impossible to swab.
On the other hand, MIR's total Ab test can be done week 1 post symptoms developed untill week 6.
3) Legacy players -
In terms of virus dectection RT_PCR HTS screening machines already running day and night to capture infection. So SONA may face headwinds to displace such incumbents for detecting infections. Where as Ab readout for immunity is just one way i.e. to detect immunity.
