Non-Executive Chairman
Mr Asibelua is the Non-Executive Chairman of Simbi Capital. He is also the Founder and Executive Chairman at Equinox Group Limited, a conglomerate with an extensive portfolio and interests in a number of sectors in West Africa; Chairman of Mira Resource Corp (TSX-V: MRP), a Canadian-based independent oil & gas company focused on West African energy; and, Chairman of Arcadia Petroleum (Nigeria) Limited, a crude oil and petroleum products trading company.
 
Mr Asibelua also founded and became the first Executive Chairman of Amber Petroleum Limited, which he merged with London AIM listed mining company Afnat Resources Limited in 2009. Thereafter Afnat Resources Limited completed an all shares merger with Axim Inc. a Canadian listed Natural Resources Company in June 2010.
 
Mr Asibelua has over 23 years’ experience in the international oil sector and is a pioneer in the development of indigenous participation in the Nigerian oil and gas sector. He is widely respected as a leading businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist.
 
Malik Dechambenoit
Mr Dechambenoit is a leading political analyst, mediator and strategic advisor. He has extensive experience working with government agencies at the international, central and local levels in Africa as well as Fortune 500 Companies and global investment funds.
 
Mr Dechambenoit is a Partner and Co-Founder at Gumbi, Dechambenoit & Associates a strageic advisory firm working with Fortune 500 Companies and global Investment Funds on their Africa strategies. He previously served in a Senior Political Advisory role at the United Nations from 2002 to 2009. He focused mainly on international peace-making efforts in Central and East Africa (Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi). In that capacity he served as a Senior Advisor to former Presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, Benjamin Mkapa of Tanzania and Ketumile Masire of Botswana.
 
Mr Dechambenoit also served at United Nations headquarters in New York, where he planned and managed some of the world’s largest peacekeeping operations. He participated in high-level inter-state mediation processes and worked closely with senior government officials in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, the African Union, the International Criminal Court as well as multi-lateral donors like the European Union and Commission, World Bank, IMF and African Development Bank. He worked closely with the World Bank and the European Commission on the formulation of a “Governance Compact” for the Democratic Republic of Congo.
 
Mr Dechambenoit holds a Bachelor’s degree in Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and a Masters degree in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick, UK. He has been awarded the National Defence Medal, with exceptional merit, by the French Government.
David Rothschild
Mr Rothschild is co-founder and Executive Director of Golden Veroleum, a responsible large-scale agriculture development company operating in West and Central Africa. He was previously Associate Principal at Partners in Performance, offering mining consultancy and project management services; CEO at E*TRADE Financial in South Africa, part of a leading global online stockbroker; Co-founder and Partner at Praxis Capital, a private equity firm investing in Africa; Country Manager in Rwanda at Medecins Sans Frontieres; and, Associate Principal at McKinsey & Co, a top-tier global management consulting firm.
 
Today Mr Rothschild is leading the development and expansion of a large-scale sustainable oil palm project in West Africa. Prior to this he has 25 years' of executive and project management and consulting experience in strategy, business and transformation, including operational improvement, asset optimisation and turnaround. He also has experience in private equity and company due diligence.
 
Mr Rothschild has worked extensively in Africa, the US and Europe, across numerous industries including resources, energy, information technology, telecommunications, financial services, healthcare and aerospace.
Frank Braeken
 
 
Frank is a Non-Executive Director of Simbi Capital. He has a career of almost 30 years dedicated to consumer goods, foods and agriculture. He has extensive experience from Africa and with other emerging and frontier markets having worked in what were then high-growth emerging markets, e.g. Poland, Russia and the Andean countries.
 
Until May 2013, Frank was the Executive Vice President (i.e. executive chairman) for Unilever Africa, a US$5bn revenue food and consumer product business, Group Vice President China Region, Managing Director Unilever Foods France, and other positions. Frank’s Unilever career spans over 24 years and covers all major functional roles and business lines. Frank joined Unilever in 1987 from Procter & Gamble.
 
He is the former Chairperson of Private Investors for Africa, and Vice Chairperson of Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania. He is the current Business Chairperson of Enterprise Parliamentary Dialogue International.
 
Frank holds an MBA  and a Masters of Laws from Leuven University, Belgium.
