To me it is the impression that a cleaner share structure gives. Hundreds of millions float at a low share price strongly suggests to folk a company that had to continually raise money at cheap stock prices. Doesn't scream "buy" because dilution is no good in general and you dont wanna be that investor who is going to be further diluted before things start turning around.

The largest benefit in my opinion is a cleaner share structure with a higher share price and lower price volatility which will screen much better for insitutional investors. And yes, we certainly want those large institutional investors with deep pockets.
