RE:2014 Bulk Sample compared assuming 6.1 carats/100 tonsYour analysis is flawed, and fatally so. Mining costs in the arctic are high. Use Mountain Province as a proxy. Their processed costs are $125-$135 / tonne (per their latest guidence)Their grade is ~1.8 c/t, or 180 cpht. Round up to 200 cpht and you get roughly US$50/carat costs.
Cost per tonne processed will be relatively fixed, regardless of the operation, so lets assume US100/tonne processed. Ekati was basically $100/tonne so a good proxy But lets say we are way better at it than everybody else. Lets say it cost us US75/tonne processed.
To recover 1 carat, we need to move 17 tonnes of ore. Lets forget about strip ratio here. So our cost per carat recovered will be 17tonnes/caratX$75tonne=US$1275/carat recovered. Assuming your 10 fold increase in price per carat is correct, which is is not, but lets be generous, you can see we will lose $750 for every carat we produce. Great business model. I like your chances too, your chances of going broke by investing in sectors you know nothing about.
