You got it Bdog ...it is never the length of the day but the magic in it. Sorry it did not rhyme. Roses are red Violets are blue Some poets rhyme and others don't IKE

Don’t be so meticulous! For many people “day” means only a light part of the entire circadian period. In many languages there is a separate word for a 24-hour period (in addition to “day” and “night”). So, people are right saying that days are getting longer after December 21st. You don’t’ need to be a scientist to realize that.

I must admit, you are right - the most of languages has one word for a “day” and for a “24-hour period”. But some Slavic languages have three different words for day, night and 24-hour period. Ukrainian for example: (day) (night) and (24 hours) May be those TV weather commentators are originally from Ukraine BTW, I like your comments on NFG and your and lke’s sense of humor!
