New Guinea Gold Corporation: Further Excellent Drill Results FromWeioko With High of 1.8m at 51.5g/t Gold and 140 g/t Silver

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Jun 18, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --New Guinea Gold Corporation/quotes/comstock/11v!ngg(CA:NGG0.17,-0.01,-2.94%)(FRANKFURT: NG8) -

Results from a further six diamond core holes at the Weioko Project(Sehulea Property - 100% owned by New Guinea Gold Corporation) (NGG),all show significant gold with wide intervals above 1g/t gold suchas:

 PWED42 - 48m at 1.95g/t gold and 6.12g/t silver
PWED43 - 42.3m at 1.74g/t gold and 7.76g/t silver
PWED47 - 64.6m at 2.24g/t gold and 8.88g/t silver

Mineralisation commences at or near surface and includes some highgrade intervals such as 1.8m at 51.50g/t gold and 140g/t silver inhole PWED47 from 3.1m depth.

Bob McNeil, CEO and Chairman commented: "these results and therecently released results for the 60% owned Mt Penck propertyillustrate the significant value and potential of exploration /development projects within the NGG portfolio, in addition to thepresent and future gold production from the Company's Sinivit Mine.

NGG is not simply a one mine company, but has a large explorationdevelopment portfolio. Over 90,000m of drilling has now beencompleted on these projects and all projects have defined gold and /or gold/ copper / molybdenum mineralisation. We expect to be able torelease resource estimates for the Weioko and Mt Penck projects byyear end".

The Weioko Gold Project is a key NGG gold project, has been partlyexplored to date, but the drilled mineralisation represents less than5% of the known gold in soil anomalous area (see Press Release datedMarch 30, 2009).

NGG has now completed a modest 15 diamond core drill program. Theresults of these holes, when included with results from 20 RC holesand 23 diamond core holes already completed, should be sufficient toallow a resource estimation to be completed in accordance with theguidelines of NI 43-101. The results of all previous holes, using a0.2g/t gold cut off are shown in Table 1 of the Press Release datedMarch 30, 2009.

Previous surveys have included soil geochemistry, rock chip, sidelooking radar and Induced Polarisation (IP) geophysical surveys.Geochemical soil anomalism covers an area of 6 kms by 2 kms. Only avery small part of this anomalous area has been tested by eitherdrilling or trenching.
