RE:Rocky relationships

RE:Rocky relationships
I read the whole thing. While I empathize with native peoples around the globe as they struggle with common issues, this is the 21st century after all. I'm very doubtful that the kinds of issues talked about would relate to Canadian First Nations in the 21st century.

Again, not to take anything away from their perceived plight, but what is this really about? I suggest it's not historical caves or shelters but about MONEY. First paragraph, "1.9 m in royalties withheld". It would seem that this is the real catalyst to their grievance. What caused it is unknown really because this report is one sided.

It goes on to say that they were ripped off because they didn't make a better deal in 2001 and again in 2007. They received 7m++ in 2001, could they have hired a law firm at that point? I mean they are a corporation after all right? (Wintawari Guruma Aboriginal Corporation)
Are the board members to blame perhaps? Do they have board members that would rather take .55 a share instead of selling on the open market for north of .70? Decades long deals 101, get a law firm to represent your interests. I have to ask, the 7m in 2001, how much was spent on legal fee's?

Land claims and compensation are serious issues for First Nations here in Canada. History doesn't favour the Canadian government as it pertains to Native issues but First Nations have learned from the past and are quite savy going forward in the 21st century. I have no doubt that First Nations in the ROF will be represented to ensure prosperity for generations to come.
