There is no future for this company....

They may make a go of it for a while but the future is clear....Solid State Batteries with NO anode, NO carbon, NO graphite....Nouveau may capture some current technology needs but by they time they are fully ramped up they will be obsolete.  Call me a basher if you like but you had best have an answer for this....

Graphite anode is what gives stability during charging but it eats up huge volume.. With a Nickel, Manganese,Cobalt cathode there is only a need for a foil anode made of lithium metal....there is NO graphite at all in these solid state batteries.  I own Western Areas for class 1 nickel and their new mine coming online, Giyani Metals for a sweet Manganese mine and a handful of Copper names ...more

yes yes your 100% right. We are all stupid and you're right. The world doesn't need graphite at all. Thanks again.

First of all it's "you're" 100% right not "your"  Secondly...did you read the articles?  What do they say about graphite in solid state batteries?  Both links clearly stated that there is no need for ANY graphite in Quantumscape's solid state battery did they not?  So why don't you tell me what Nouveau will be selling to whom other than ...more

That is debateable. Every year there are many claims to a new breakthrough battery technology. We shall see. Being associated with VW is a good sign though. Here is something to consider though. Would Tesla recently buy a huge part of a lithium rich dessert if lithium didn't have a future? Something to think about. Just my opinion. DYODD.

I'm talking about graphite not Lithium. Lithium is used in all battery technologies including solid state. I own European Metals for my lithium play.  Just saying that as the technology evolves the case for graphite has grown less robust than before this development from Quantumscape and VW

Last couple of paragraphs from this acticle...S/S battery could be realized...Or not...still many years out. But if QuantumScape hits its milestones, it intends to have a product reach the electric vehicle market in 2024 or 2025. Caution is generally warranted around promises of new battery technology, but it’s fair to say that this technology appears to be a little more mature than usual. It ...more

Exactly battery tests in laboratories are just the beginning of a long process... Hydroquebec works on solid state battery since 40 years. Must be for an reason Elon musk chose to just improve the lithium ion battery with silicone for now. Probably less risky and the next efficiency expected up to 30% silicone (super cheap) meet his performance ambitions to outmatched the combustion engine ...more

QuantumSpace plans (HOPE) to complete a factory of 20gWh in 2026. (frome the CEO speaks last month). Tesla on it's own needs 3000gWh en 2030. That's not even 1% of Tesla market.  https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/michaeltaylor/2020/12/15/volkswagen-evs-could-deliver-long-range-solid-state-batteries-by-2024/amp/ https://nouveaumonde.group/fr/place ...more

Toyota was out a week or so ago with a similar claim and a product coming to market THIS YEAR. That makes 2 major players on the cusp of rolling out solid state battery technology that doesn't require graphite in the anode. I've presented the Toyota news here several days ago but the lunatics married to their wish thinking about Nouveau don't care about facts only the fantasy.  If ...more

You're entitled to your opinon but I for one don't always believe everything I read. Now that you've made personal attacks about the IQ level of posters here...you have lost the arguement. Have a good day

Thanks to share but you should go back to quantumscade forum... there are more than one kind of battery applications. Your metallic lithium battery are not ready yet to be on the market and even if it would or will, there are going to be still different kind of batteries got the right applications. Graphite is used not only for Ev lithium ion battery but EVLO's lithium iron phosphate (LFP ...more

I never said or implied that there wasn't a current demand for graphite only that solid state is the future and they don't require graphite. So Nouveau might get a little time in the sunshine but longer term it seems they will not be needed at least at the scale currently envisioned

Battery is only 25% of graphite market.  We always gonna need graphite, Yes there is breakthrough every week but the reality is that the world cannot move to fast, if it does it's gonna mess up the supply and demand, it's gonna be chaos.  Now that Imerys is running out of ore and that we will need great demand of graphite within the next decade ,,, it's seems ...more
