Top Holding

As can be seen, NYX remains the top holding in Sprott's Small Cap Equity Fund. No question that the institutions are closely watching Amaya and all related companies. GLTA

Wow, is there a good alternative to stockhouse available yet?   Based on their service lately, it won't be long before there is.   Really?  Posted my quote without posting my comments?   How does that even happen? I was commenting that Eric loaded up at the bottom in August, then made it a top pick.   We all know how active he is in his trading, so ...more

Just curious Green24 why you think Eric loaded up at the bottom and the sold? I don't think volume has been good enough for him to do this. Eric actually has a history of buying and holding. In 2014 he had huge gains in oil firms. He held, and at the end of 2014 he was in the red. As for a 10 day old statement not being reliable.........Well of course I would question that as well. NYX ...more

The only good news in this smashing of the stock price is the low volume.  Having a name of NYX gaming is probably not helping with the news out of New York state.  In addition, their linkage with AYA is compounding the situaton.   Would love to average down but if there is fear (more US states getting on the New York train) out there the stock price will go where that fear will ...more

Retailers at their best Just put in a buy order for 1000 @ 2.32 . . .  so far 600 filled  100 shares from one seller 500 shares from another . ..  NO big guys selling . . .. . .

I didn't say he sold.   If I remember correctly, he was on Market Call or Market Call Tonight the day after NYX tanked to <$2 briefly, and I think he said he was buying the day before.   I don't remember if he made it a top pick that day or on a later appearance.   We know he liked it a lot.  Obviously, if it was the number 1 holding at the end of ...more

I doubt Eric is selling his shares (to add them later).  The Sprott Small Cap Equity Fund is around $46 million (as of October) If you read the June end mid year financial statements the fund did not have any or much position in NYX (or DIV which is a new holding in his fund). NYX in October was the # 1 holding . . . Knowing Eric from his oil and gas fund - the top holding will be at least ...more

Ok, you have me there.   He couldn't possibly have been selling out as there haven't been that many total shares traded in the last 3 days. I suppose if anything, he might have been adding shares at the bottom today. Is his fund's holdings updated online monthly or more frequently?    I suspect we may not know what he has been up to until he goes back on BNN ...more

Fund holdings are updated monthly.  Sprott is smart in the sense that they stopped showing how much % of the fund the holding is :-)  I have always found Eric to be straightforward and insightful. He does seem to have some bad luck in his investments but stand up guy in my books.  I have a lot of the holdings in my portfolio which are top 10 investments in his small cap fund ...more

Also, about his oil losses, Wasn't he managing an oil fund at that time?   Wasn't he the top fund manager at one point before the drop?   But when it drops, in such a spectacular fashion, a historical plunge, what are you going to do if you manage an oil stock fund?   Go all cash?  You can't.   You have to stay in them and just tough it out ...more

The fund manager is Eric Nuttal. Don't know if I spelled his name correctly. He's a very sharp guy and knows his stuff. He's also one of their oil and gas guys.  sb

Eric Nuttall is on Market Call Friday.   I guess we will find out if he was he one selling after the AYA news, or the one buying the past few days. I expect it will still be his top holding.   Hopefully he has good things to say about it and we climb back to the low $3 range again.   Or better yet, he makes it a top pick and we scoot to $4. :)
