What typically takes longer to ascertain....a dry hole or a commercial find...what test are involved in either scenario and time frames....Thks

Hi taal, A commercial find takes longer for 2 main reasons (potentially up to 3): 1) The wireline program would probably have additional runs to a dry case (but this impact is rather small, a matter of 2-3 extra days on a well) 2) Going chronologically, the second reason is the one taking the most time (but we're not impacted by that one on Kawa, hence "potentially up to 3" ...more

Hi again, Blinded by the word "ascertain", I might have missed the gist of your message... Probably the more relevant answer you are looking for is that one: An exploration well encountering (several) hydrocarbon bearing formations with flow potential (but regardless of commercial quantities being in place) would take, as a general indication, longer to drill than the very same well ...more
