NEWS Pacific Bay Expands Mont-Laurier, Québec Claims Over Airborne Radiometric Anomaly
Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. - TSX Venture - CBP
Vancouver, British Columbia, March 28, 2006 -- Mr. George Sanders, President, Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. (TSX Venture: CBP, the "Company") is pleased to announce the filing of 45 claims to cover a significant airborne radiometric anomaly in the emerging Mont-Laurier uranium exploration play in southern Québec, Canada. This new staking adds 26 km2 (10 mi2) to the Company's holdings which now total over 57 km2 (22 mi2) in two areas, the Mont-Laurier East and West blocks. These claims lie in the northern part of the trend of known uranium mineralization now being actively explored by 4 companies with Nova Uranium in the lead and drilling at the Renard Creek (Nova) showing approximately 4 km south of PacBay's claims.
These claims were placed primarily to cover a strong airborne radiometric anomaly published in a 2003 Open File Report by the Canadian Geological Survey. The radiometric anomaly occurs on the eqU, eqTh and K channels and correlates directly with the presence of favourable metamorphic pegmatite stratigraphy on the ground which hosts the disseminated uranium oxide mineralization that was first explored during the mid to late 70's by Canadian Johns Manville Company Ltd. and others.
George Sanders, P.Geo, President of PacBay and a Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101 for the purposes of this News Release, states "These additional claims have rationalized our staking efforts in the northern part of this mineralized trend and now give us a large area to explore on the ground and with airborne geophysics during the upcoming field season. This northern lobe of the strong airborne radiometric anomaly containing the probable extension of the rock types known to host disseminated uranium oxide mineralization is highly prospective and solidifies PacBay's excellent land position in the district."
PacBay plans to mobilize field crews when the exploration season begins in the Mont-Laurier area in May. Please visit our website https://www.pacificbayminerals.com/mont_laurier.shtml for updated maps of the Mont-Laurier property.
