RE:RE:NEWS ! Some feedback from the new Qebec Liberal government with regards to resource development would be helpful. They already announced public sector spending cuts and a hiring freeze last week.You cannot cut your way to prosperity, a reduction in government spending has to be met with a increase in private sector spending to maintain the economy. Not to mention their population's affection for public programs like subsidized daycare. Cutting such perks will be difficult and possibly create social unrest.
The provincial government may have an interest in oild & gas on Anticosti Island but that is years away from commercialization. There is a lack of critical infrastructure there such as roads. Petrolympic's resources are on the mainland in an area with population. Mendel indicated on his radio interview that they would welcome help from the government to develop their holdings.
