PCY's chances of succeeding A Canadian company like Prophecy may be more welcome in Mongolia than some people on this board realize. Even though PCY is small, remember that they will soon have experienced partners and financial backers. IMO the key now is the time that John Lee and his colleagues have spent in Mongolia building relationships and trust through countless face-to-face meetings with govt officials and local groups, plus the charitable nature of their initial coal sales and overall sensitivity to the Mongolian point of view.
One would think that if the Mongolians were not interested in doing business with PCY, they would have given Lee such a message a long time ago. Why go through the charade of approving mining licences, having the Energy Authority of Mongolia enter into a "Cooperation Convenant" with PCY, or why would the Mongolian Energy Regulatory Authority even issue to PCY the power plant license in the first place?? Just one big joke on PCY? As incompetent as some of you think Lee has been, surely you have to believe that if he stopped believing in this project, he would sell the coal assets for whatever he could get and focus on NKL and the other deposits. Flying in and out of Mongolia and China from Vancouver is not so glamorous and exciting after you have done it for the 20th or 30th time.
Here's an article that conveys the deep feelings that persist amongst Mongolians towards their Russian neighbours. Helps explain why opening new borders may still take some time...
