my guess is that the ratings help improve your overall stockhouse rating, which in turn provides a level of credibility in your posts. I am kind of indifferent (same boat as you) as some ratings are so skewed..ppl will rate themselves "5"'s just so they are perceived to be greater contributors.

It is just silly how many useless posts are on these board sometimes though..sometimes makes you really think the age and maturity of some individuals. It is much more beneficial when people only post relevant information on the company!
