i invest a lot in newly listed companies on the venture and i always see a stagnant period first where shares get transferred and allocated. a lot of shares coming from the initial financings related to the listing.
in this period the price is kept within a certain range and is optimal for accumulation for retail shareholders. this is also the period where retail shareholder get impatient and move on; a very frequent mistake.
once all the "players" have their share and the table is set, then they will let the price run freely.
