Why I think athermal lasers will be next inflection for Poet
External Modulated Lasers (latest standard) and the next hardware advancement is in what Poet can do with its interposer. Customers have the EML path of 800G, 1.6T, and 3.2T to look forward to, Poet can even do more and that is what excites Suresh and those who understand. With "frequency spacings down to 50 gigahertz in an uncooled application, which is unheard of," according to Suresh. Then what value does that add to having data centers become even more energy cost efficient and much cooler overall in terms of annual energy cost savings for datea centers? So who has the best mousetrap now, as recognized by the AI award, and furthering that with new hardware applications for the reasonable near future?
So how cool will that be? Very, very disruptive, I would think. So Poet can and is optinimizing the current status quo in EML with its scalable and generational advantages, And Poet can take this even further? That is a bg wow, in my opinion!
