Poynt & Blackberry

Poynt & BlackberryIt was tough day on the markets - EVERY SINGLE stock I own was in the red.   That said - I just plan to hunker down over these next few days, as I feel the market will be somewhat jittery over the next few days or weeks.  It's not easy to do when many of my stocks are down as much as 20% or more.

While I've taken profits in some stocks, I still hold PYN, having bought it at 11¢; so I have some comfort room while the Shorties have their fun for the next few days.

Although Poynt is an app on multiple platforms, It seems it works best on Blackberry's.  The correlation between Blackberry and Poynt can be further inferred by RIM's recent advertisements, featuring Poynt as one of its super-apps.

Near term. I think there will be some excitement with PYN's shareprice once RIM launches its new Playbook.
The big questions is WHEN?   It appears Apple has beat RIM to the market twice (IPAD 1 and now IPAD 2).
I sure hope RIM can deliver and SOON - otherwise my fear is that the positivity generated from the Poynt/Blackberry advertisements will all be for naught.

It's nice to see that Poynt is actively promoting its app on Apple and Windows platforms.
Ideally - it would be great to see a Poynt/Apple or Poynt/Windows advertisement.
Meantime - I understand that RIM is paying for the Poynt/Blackberry advertisements - so any free publicity is good!

I'm looking for the following near term catalysts for the stock price:
- Any announcement about expansion in India
- Partnership with an advertising agency to promote coupon/advertisements from user activity
- Possible revenue generating initiatives with go2media
- Gas prices:  expansion of this feature to Canada and other countries (should be a boon, given the price of oil)
- Launch of the new Playbook, and more advertisements and buzz that might give Poynt a positive mention

So while the markets generally sucked today, I still feel that there are near term catalysts for positive stock price movement (else I would have sold at 20¢)

Meanwhile Poynt appears to have a good management team.
Also, I can take comfort in the fact that well over 90% of the blogs and commentary about Poynt on various social media seem to be saying quite positive things about this little app.

Will this be a winner?

We shall see!
