RE:RE:RE:Analysts Coverage

#ReconAfrica and the five recognised #TraditionalAuthorities leadership in the Kavango East and Kavango West regions, held a consultative meeting as part of the strengthening of a collaborative approach to sustainable development, through ReconAfrica’s exploration project.

The meeting was attended by the Fumu (King) of the Hambukushu Erwin Munika Mbambo, Ukwangali Hompa Eugene Siwombe, Gciriku Senior Traditional Councillor Festus Shikerete, Shambyu Chairperson Chief’s Council Edward Sikerete, as well as Governors for Kavango East and Kavango West, Honourable Sirkka Ausiku and Bonifatius Wakudumo. The leaders were accompanied by senior headmen and women.

ReconAfrica had several engagements with the traditional authorities before. The meeting forms part of the continuous engagement and consultation approach adopted by the company, to keep our stakeholders informed.

Each Hompa and the Fumu was accompanied by two senior councilors, headmen and headwomen.

Hompa Eugene Siwombe, who is the chairperson of the traditional leaders’ committee, said that they as the traditional leaders have “taken note and really appreciate how their people have benefited from the project so far.”

Siwombe went further to say that despite the different media reports, especially international, and the “false allegations against the company,” they understand very well that ReconAfrica is currently in the exploration stage and “not drilling for the oil as the people from outside are saying.”
