RE:It Stinks to High HeavenMr. Duck I have to admit you have some good points. I too was surprised that the Namibians were giving up a big portion of their already small participation - their 10% . On a deal like this I had expected the gov to hold around at least 30-40 %.
What I have learned from investing in South Africa over many years is that the wealth must be spread. Back like in 2012 South Africa almost lost it over the mining strikes and riots that were exceptionally violent and included the uniqely African practice of necklacing (a gasoline soaked tire encasing a person and set on fire that makes for some really frightening Tv images as the persons runs around howling as they are burning) plus the usual hacking of arms and legs off with machetes.
The mines, government, and elites soon relented and gave the workers a bigger piece of the pie and there soon was labor piece and even black union leaders in custom suits dining in formerly exclusive white country clubs having arrived in luxury vehicles. Such is the price of peace and the cost of doing business in Africa!
