Canadian $ gains momentum

The Canadian $ has rallied against the $ US and is now on par with Sept 2022 levels at $1.32 CAD per $1US.

A stronger Canadian $ is better for gross margins and this bodes well for the rest of the year. Canada likely has 1 to 2 more rate hikes left but the US has indicated they too have 2 more rate hikes left. If our Policy rate plays catch up on the US then our $ should gain momentum as the year progresses.

The average exchange rate in 2022 was $1.3019 CAD to $1 US and is $1.351 as of ytd 2023.
