Cat has the wrong perception that mouse would always be around whatever he does or does not. Unless cat could find a rich person that would feed him with Whiskas for a long time (private placement), he would run out of mice and will die because of hunger. As a mouse, I showed that I am about to leave and asked them a proof that you really have lion(s) and many food behind the lion(s) in front of you.
I am a single mouse, but if all other mice tell them they are about the leave, then this is something that they have to consider. It seems they thought the mouse pool is infinite and they can ignore whether mouse is happy or not. Unless cat gives piece of cheese (not piece of sheat) to mice rather soon, I and I believe many will not stay here.
Also "saying nothing for a long time" was a very wise communication strategy for me. When you talk too much, you likely make more mistakes like in our case.
