Simple and very short answer is many countries have imposed huge restrictions on ANY flaring , some have even banned it completely. Even UKCS North Sea slapped a ban on it for a while but since eased back on it. Even many states in the US have outright bans on it.
So what do you think they do when either banned or restricted from flaring????? No flare at Mopane does not neccesarily mean anything to worry about.
Second point, can't be bothered to double check dates, going by what you say ie aprox 2 months for Venus 2A and Magnetti , then I would say most likely they ran a completion job on both wells ( look it up and research ). Also possible and likely they would run production casing as part of this but depends what they used drilling the well. This would take anything between 3-5wks.
Last point , the Mira done initial successful DST on Venus 1 last autumn and that only took about 3 wks from memory....including a bit more drilling with short ST.
On the Hercules they would have known within about 6-7 days if the DST would be successful. Pretty sure GALP would have binned it looooong before now if they had forked the bore or lost kit and couldn't fish ect ect. Crew on board are predominantly "noggies", Norwegian.....very sharp, determined lads the nogs.
Hey we'll soon see I guess but will be very shocked if after nearly 4 wks and 15-18mill USD min they've hung about so long for fork all.
Bub, if the uninitiated get weak with some banter around risk, then they shouldn't be in the play, especially if they have sunk in "a lot of money". In fact, lulling them to sleep with only chat of rainbows and unicorns is much more dangerous.
Second point, every test in the OB to date have lit a candle, I get it, it's not a 100% sign for success or failure, but it's been the norm so I think it's within the lane to hope to see something similar.
Also, based on my discussions, not with posters none of us know, the early expectations is that the O to G ration for 83 may be similar to Shell's findings not Total. This has nothing to do with size, only that if it's so, again I would expect some gas that needs to be takens care of. And yes, there are other ways to do it, perhaps GALP will do so differently than both Total and Shell??
IMO, we are already beyond the success or failure discussion. 83 looks to be a goal with SEI's first shot on net. Quality and size is where we are at now, with 90 and 87 looming in the wings.
Great play, not only is it going to be a company maker but for those who we know on this board have been carrying bags for a long time, an investor maker!
Cheers...
