At first I thought someone tried to bump the price up for month end, and then they just unloaded to reverse their position.  But that's not what happened, and I am at a loss as to what's going on.   Apparently a large investor has reduced its position and (what appears to be) a syndicate decided to facilitate that action by taking the shares on the buy side at slightly favorable prices.

Some guesses:

A deal is in the works for some additional capital.  One of the underwriters of that deal found an opportunity to reduce risk prior to closing that deal and so they did so.

An investor just closed a position and doesn't care about the efficiency of the trade all that much and somehow he saw the stars align in a way that let him exit swiftly.

A change between beneficial ownership was required because of conflicts because some partnership deal is in the works.

I'll tell you what I'm pretty sure it is not:  (a) errorenous trading activity; (b) fake momentum; (c) business as usual trading that just happens in small caps from time to time.
