RE:RE:I think 3 million cables was the desired outputGrinder57 wrote: Misbrandt, I would like to thank you for your occasional solid post on this board!
yes, it is production capacity of 3 million units annually that was mentioned.
What we need to KNOW:
1. In a hyperscale data center how many AOC Cables are required currently per server and how many SPECTRA ACC Cables will be needed for the new Design Win servers when they occur?
We know there are 100,000 server cabinets Per hyperscale center, we just don’t know how many cables. Is it just a few per cabinet or is it all those crazy looking cables that are interwoven through the server? This information shouldn’t be too difficult to obtain, but until we know hard numbers we can only guess...
I've seen 40 per server, but Spectra7\s solution would limit that to 32 per server. So a Hyperscale Center with 100,000 servers would offer up to 3,200,000 cable capacity, over 90% of which could be Spectra7.
That's 3.2 Million cables EACH data Center:
"over 90% of the links in a typical data center. At a savings of up to 28 watts per interconnect, this adds up to almost 800 watts per 32-port top-of-rack switch. A large data center using Spectra7 technology could save several megawatts by incorporating ACCs over AOCs."
