RE:RE:RE:LD Microsystems stocking stuffersHi Misbrandt, hope your Holiday season has been good and thank you for the informative reply.
I really think we are dealing with a combination of all possible scenarios being considered a Design Win then a Design In.
Obviously we have secured Design Wins with at least 2 of our cable assembly partners as announced by management and relating to the Data Center market specifically!
Since S7 is only the designer and owner of the chip sets, they rely on the cable assembly partner to fabricate the connector and supply the Data Center manufacturer with the finished goods.
Who then adds the connectors to their pre specified servers.
So essentially we touch all of the bases with the Design Win , resulting in a Design In!
S7 as designer/owner. Foxconn-Amphenol as assembler and supplier to the Data Center Server manufacturer. Final product delivered as designed to the Data Center operator/owner who could be Alibaba, Tencent , or another potentially large Data Center owner/operator type.
Dont like splitting hairs, I think the intent was to try and determine by the verbiage used during the presentation if we could somehow quantify these mysterious 36 Design Wins....
My guess, All of the above including specific product design wins as you mentioned!!
Wouldnt that be something if these guys ended up in the same dominant position they hold in VR today and pushed right on through into the Data Center space!!!
Keeping 2 bottles of the bubbly on hand, one for 1-1-2019 & one for S7 just in case!,,
(not sure of the expiration date)
Cheers)))
