In addition to the specs being exactly the same as Spectra7's, Hitachi states the exact same benefits:

"Although AOC can reach longer distance thanapassivecable,thepower consumption is as large as several watts perchanneland the price isalsohigh. Therefore, as the data rate goes up,the cost for interconnection in data centers increases. In order to realize an economical and flexible server configuration, we propose the ACC which  can reach10-m with half  price and 10% power consumption of AOC as shown infigure.1."

"The cost of interconnect ion in data centerscan be minimized by connecting inner rack of 3 - m or less with passive copper cable, connecting inter rack of up to 10 - m with  ACC and connecting between switches up to 100 - m  with AOC"
