The diamond deposit at Shore Gold Inc.'s Star-Orion South projectnear Prince Albert is large enough to support a mine, the company saidThursday in a news release.

The Saskatoon firm said a feasibilitystudy indicates it has a net present value of $2.1 billion US and iseconomically fit to support the construction and operation of a mine.

"Therobust economics confirm that a world-class diamond mine is feasible incentral Saskatchewan," stated Kenneth MacNeill, Shore Gold's presidentand CEO.

Located in the Fort a la Corne forest some 60 kilometresfrom Prince Albert, Star-Orion South is estimated to contain roughly34.4 million carats. Should a mine be developed, diamond-bearingkimberlite ore would be take n to the surface from two open pits. ShoreGold said such a project would take five years to bring into productionand then operate over 20 years before playing out.

A mine would employ hundreds of people during the construction phase and more than 500 once opened.
