Update from our neighbours new $1.3 Billion mine project.

Planned activities for the week of November 14th include ongoing earthworks within the Tailings Management Facility, foundation work and steel erection for various buildings within the Plant Site area and drilling and blasting at the open pit.

What's coming next:

Greenstone Mine wishes to advise the public that open pit activities are underway. Greenstone Mine will be conducting scheduled blasts within the O pen Pit. Blasting Notices are posted on the website homepage.

‘No Trespassing’ signs within the former Barton Bay Trail area due to work activities being undertaken for the construction of the Highway 11 Realignment have been installed for everyone’s safety as this work continues. Earthworks in the Kenogamisis Pit, located North of Highway 11 behind Between Bridges Inn, will continue with loading and hauling of pit run material to the future Plant Site area as needed.

At the Process Plant east end, steel erection continues. At the west end, internal steel installation is ongoing as is the installation of the CIP tanks. Concrete, steel erection and cladding are ongoing at the Crusher and the High Pressure Grinding Rolls. Work continues on the retaining wall (MSE Wall) by the Crusher. At the Power Plant, the last of the gensets will arrive and are being installed. Interior work in the Truck Shop is ongoing with the installation of overhead doors ongoing. Formwork and concrete for conveyors is well advanced with preassemble and installation commenced. Power distribution work continues in the Plant Site and Tailings Management Facility (TMF) areas.

Ongoing hauling of material from the S4 Aggregate Pit to the Goldfield Creek Dam. Work continues on the cut-off wall and various water retention ponds and ditches.

Placement of materials nears completion for this season for the east side of the future Highway 11 and the Michael Power Boulevard ramps. With the Michael Power Boulevard Crossing in use, motorists are asked to obey the 60 km/h maximum speed limit and to proceed with caution.

At the future MTO Patrol Yard, work is substantially complete.

Enbridge has completed the installation of the 14 km pipeline to the Project site and final clean up continues. Installation of the two metering stations is well advanced and will be wrapping up for the winter season soon.

Mine mobile equipment components continue to arrive. Assembly of the first four mine haul trucks and shovel is complete. Assembly of the second shovel at the assembly pad area continues. The construction of haul roads continues.

Construction in and around Greenstone Mine involves the use of heavy equipment such as haul trucks, zoom booms, cranes, drills, excavators, skidders, wood chippers, bulldozers, tri-axle haul trucks, articulated trucks and loaders. For health and safety reasons, do not enter any unauthorized or active work areas within the Project footprint unless authorized to do so.

The safety of our employees, contractors and the general public is paramount as we construct the Greenstone Mine.
