RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:This board is now complete trash talk !
Good one tdon. I do follow the rules and wear a mask where appropriate but I do use a little common sense in rationalyzing where I do not think they are required. A lot of the "guidance" that is given on the tube these days tends to leave that part out -- as with his cintinual rant to wear a mask and his mandating a nationwide use of masks beginning Wednesday. Masks can be effective to a degree in certain situations but they want to leave out all the details of being rational of where and when.
Some people are absolutely scared to death because of the continuous diatribe they hear on the TV day after day. They won't move a step outside their house without a mask on - because that's what they have been told.
I go for a 2 - 3 mile walk every day. I have to wear a mask to leave my condo unit, walk down the hall, take the stairs or elevator downstairs and through the lobby to the outdoors. I usually never see another person in that trek but it is the rules.
Once I am outside in that great atmosphere of ours the first thing I do is remove my mask so I can breath that fresh air. As I do my walk I may pass 4 to 8 people in the 3 miles. The odd one is wearing a mask (is there a purpose? but they're comfortable with it). Some people will pass me on the sidewalk, some will move onto the boulevard strip to ensure 8 to 10 feet of separation, others will go right out past the parked cars to the middle of the roadway - don't want to be within 20 feet - which makes me smile thinking of how paranoid they have become because of what they hear from the media.
I'm the one that is over 80 so supposedly the most vulnerable -- maybe they are giving me the wide swath because they feel they are protecting me but I see them doing it for others as well.
Masks have their place but they also have circumstances where they are of no use at all -- as long as people can realize that. Presumably after Wednesday if you are hiking by yourself in a National Park in the U.S. you must be wearing a mask. Not sure how they will administer that -- and it's too bad they don't apply the common sense aspect as opposed to painting it all with the same brush. Maybe in the end that will be done but no indication thus far.
