RE:Signing up new trial patientsGman620 wrote
If you put yourself in the shoes of someone who was told that they have bladder cancer, and may possibly lose their bladder or worse, it becomes easier to see why it is difficult to sign people up for the clinical trial. If your doctor says that the standard protocol is BCG, even with low success rates, then a person is more likely to follow that path than possibly risk their life on this unproven treatment.
I would ask "how many people have taken this treatment and what is the outcome?". It's a catch 22. There aren't enough results to make most people comfortable with trying this. 450 days is a long time if cancer has a chance to grow.
Hopefully when the small current sample has more results, it will help to create some momentum. The doctors need to believe in it.
Gman620 this trial is for the 30 to 40 percent of people that are unresponsive to the BCG treatment. They are stage 4 NMIBC so at this point to hopefully save their bladder they can choose other existing treatments or look for new clinical studies that have a promising outcome such as this trial.
