Bladder Cancer Canada case

A BCG-unresponsive high grade CIS case that then needed a 3 months chemo treatment after recurring 3 months only after her last BCG treatment, in order to avoid a 14-hours surgery.  Despite all these, she ended up having a neobladder.

So don't worry about the FDA breakthrough decision.  These patients clearly need additional alternatives to BCG, chemo and surgery.

That is a great story and a great individual survivor. I went through a similar situation with my wife with ovarian cancer and she did not make it, and I'm sure many others have the same or similar stories but it does kind of beg the question - "where is Health Canada in all of this?" Can they not open the door themselves, or do they need the FDA to open it, and invite them in? Is it ...more

Thank you, Pandora, for your moving post. It is striking to me that, as these years have unfolded, more and more people have revealed their interest and investment in Theralase was borne out of something deeply personal. I hope that you will find solace if/when this powerful cancer fighter is finally acknowledged and ratified by our governing bodies.  My sympathy and prayers for your loss.  ...more

Thanks for the well wishes John. The thoughts and the memories stay with a person, but time passes on - it's now been 10 years. When the doctor comes in and utters that word "cancer" it is just devastating for all involved and changes lives forever. Supposedly the regulators have our best interest at heart, and they are in control - but -  'Time' is such a compelling ...more

My deepest sympathies as well Pandora. It's so true how devastating it is to hear the word "cancer". If Theralase can cure some bladder cancer patients this will be an amazing contribution to mankind. The prolonged agony of waiting on test results, may be unavoidable, but if more patients end up cancer free after the wait this will be a real gift to patients and their loved ones.

Pandora ~ so sorry to hear that. We went through a very similar ordeal with my 'dear (beautiful, wondeful) mommy' with a heart of gold!! She was our family MATRIACH so full of wisedom & kindness & respect to everyone who knew her! That's why Theralase is such an emotional investment for so many 'super longs'! My family & I are here to the very end ONLY ...more

Thanks all for the kind words on the weekend. A new week starting -- let's hope for a good one. U.S. holiday today. skyhawk1 did I mention somewhere I'm a daily walker? Legs & feet don't appreciate it but one foot still goes in front of the other for 3 or 4 miles!  :-)) Hips don't allow that jogging stuff.

Yeah I don't come on here to read much anymore, just staying real busy trying to enjoy what life offers.  I must've noticed it in your posts somewhere over the years because I do a lot of hiking in nature myself! Good day ~ gotta run as the 'TEE BOX' is calling. LOL

The treatment is needed and the evidence is good that it is better than all current alternatives in terms of convenience for patients and their urologists, safety and tolerability, and efficacy..  According to the latest results, 39% of patients have reached their 450 day assessments and 33% of them are CR. This CR rate will undoubtedly improve as more and more of the remaining 61 patients ...more

Thanks for sharing the link to that story, very moving, and meaningful. I'd like to point out that if Theralase is 11 out of 33 for 33% efficacy, then Keytruda is 6 or 7 out of 33 (for comparison sake) for 19% efficacy. That is then approximately 60% better than Keytruda. 50% of 7 patients is 3.5 more CR patients at 450 days.
Comment by gojotv! on Jun 18, 2023 11:36am
It's important to note, also, that Keytruda and Adstiladrin are multiple-treatment solutions. TLT's trial was set up as limited to two instillations. Two! In actual practice, nothing will prevent urologists from going to three, four, or even five instillations. Still less work than the competition, and CR's will surely skyrocket. This solution is elegant, non-toxic, and surely, very ...more
