TransGaming (TSX-V:TNG, StockForum), a Toronto-based digital game distributor and curator focused on the Smart TV market, announced today that the company had partnered with Samsung, the world's largest supplier of consumer electronic goods, to launch the company's on-demand, family-friendly social gaming service, GameTree(TM) TV, on Samsung's line of smart televisions.

Founded in 2000 by Gavriel State, TransGaming initially ported PC games to Linux using Cedega enablement engine. He then turned his gaze to the growing Mac market and the company created Cider Mac, providing the same service for game publishers such as EA, Ubisoft and Activision to easily allow them to bring their titles over to Mac.

Now, GameTree has set its sights on the Smart TV sector because of the incredible growth potential of on-demand social gaming and with the Samsung partnership, millions of users will now be able to access family-friendly games on their Smart TVs without additional hardware.

The gaming platform is cloud-based and carries some of the largest brands and franchises for the whole family to enjoy, evolving the compartmentalized TV viewing experience we are used to into an organic ecosystem of entertainment.

According to the news release, “GameTree TV on Samsung Smart TVs will be accessible via the Samsung app store.”

It detailed further, “The service launches with an impressive list of titles, including Moodies, Space Moodies, Super Collapse® 2 and Sahara Classic Solitaire.”

Then noted, “Additional games will be delivered throughout 2014, growing the GameTree TV footprint and providing players with an extensive suite of games that includes recognizable classics and unique experiences.”

Vikas Gupta, TransGaming CEO & President, commented on the company's direction, “We continue to build an incomparable lineup of industry leading consumer electronics partners to increase our Smart TV audience to a globally massive size.”

Gupta concluded, “Partnering with Samsung, the largest manufacturer of Smart TVs in the world, solidifies TransGaming as the default gaming solution for Smart TVs and we are excited to bring GameTree TV to millions of new consumers.”

GameTree will be offered to Samsung Smart TV customers on a free-to-play basis utilizing in-game video-based advertising for revenue.

TransGaming was in the news recently when the company demonstrated their GameTree (TM) platform at the 2014 CES.

Shares ran up 105.26% on the news to $0.39 per share.

Currently there are 85.4m outstanding shares with a market cap of $33.3 million.
