Perhaps when it's confirmed Trump has lost, the chaos will still happen. So maybe just sit tight for now?  For all you Trump supporters, do you know if people plan to riot, or worse?  Could use some insight.

I don't expect to see any rioting on the part of Trump supporters.  If Trump wins any court cases, and he may well, there could be more protests in places that have already seen that type of activity - Portland, Seattle, NY, DC, etc.

The court cases that have the best chance of success for Trump are those pointing out that only State Legislatures have the authority to determine how the election process works - not judges, state election committees, etc.  So there are several solid cases Trump can make to discard large blocks of votes that were not authorized to exist by any legislative action.  All of those are fair game.  The folks who changed the rules just prior to the election knew full well some of their actions would not stand up to review.  The goal was more likely to force a court battle after Nov 3.

That said, stepping back for a moment, I've noticed what I think are some clues that Trump's biggest problem is his own party.  I watched Fox News on election night call Arizona very early and other States like Texas and Florida very late.  I watched Mike Pompeo say that he had all of Hillary's emails and was going to release some before the election - never happened.  I'm watching the DOJ, FBI, etc. sit on their hands instead of investigating some pretty obvious vote fraud issues (they're all out there in video form on various sites), or fail to act when observers are not allowed into voting locations.  I watched the so-called Durham investigation fail to produce results.

My conclusion is that the single American political party (the establishment) is entirely dedicated to seeing Trump lose the election, and will not dispute a Biden win no matter how it happens.  That makes me think a bit differently about the situation.

It seems the media has us defining our "enemies" as some specific identities - Republican/Democrat, conservative/liberal, or based on some specific issues.  In reality, the establishment as a whole has acted in a pretty consistent manner through the past generation regardless of which party was in power, until Trump came along with the populist approach.

Every President after Reagan has been a Globalist prior to Trump, as Trump himself has pointed out many times.  And I think our true "enemies" are likely common ones - not the folks we are teeing off on.

Just to use one example that crosses some national boundaries:  Let's say the the right to privacy is important to freedom and individual "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness."  Both parties, the entire establishment, have fully supported and funded serious threats to those rights.  Every few seconds, my car reports my location through to the cellular phone system, where the government picks up the data and stores it.  Your cars do as well, if they are newer than 2006.  Also about one hundred or more other bits of data such as (not to get too far into the weeds) how many people are in my car based on when each door opened and closed, or whose cell phone attached to my car's bluetooth, at which point all of those phones barf out their contacts, texts and call history information into the same data stream.

Now that might be an invasion of privacy in one form, but the U. S. government of course is a member of the Five Eyes Intelligence Alliance.  As a result, the governments of U. K. Canada, Australia and New Zealand also have access to my information.  And yes, the U.S. government has access to that level of detail for all of you Canadian folks, etc. as well.  Emails, web postings, financial transactions, anything electronic.

I guess my point is that while we're beating each other up, macro policies and programs are being implemented that are much more threatening to our financial futures than who wins this particular election, or the details of how the process moves forward.

What I would like to see is for all of the really sharp folks on this excellent board begin to think about the issues we have in common from the standpoint of how we can position ourselves to exploit the situation no matter how it comes out.

There is trouble coming in the markets.  It's all of our jobs to protect our families by protecting or expanding our assets as we can.  Let's figure out the best answers to those questions and win this game together.  Would be much more fun, no?
