To my knowlodge Pat and Elon met in Salt Lake.  Who knew that Elon needed REEs in all three of his main companies Tesla, SpaceX and First solar.  Do I have any way to comfirm this meeting took place.  No.  If it took place, mostly it is covered with a NDA and nobody is talking.  I don't know when, where or if it took place.  So as you have said calk it up to wild rumor and wishfully thinking.
