In the real business world most companies announce a resignation or firing of a high level employee on a Friday. They also fire a lot of lower level people on Friday's as to let the former employee cool off over the weekend. Have you not worked for a real business?
Honestly I think it's great he resigned and they will be bringing in a new employee with a new vision. Peter always seemed like he wasn't very knowledgable when it came to business rather than government.
